Letter: Roundabout project not needed

WSDOT has sent mailers to Clark County residents announcing the construction of a roundabout at the intersection of Northeast Rock Creek Road and Highway 503. The flyer does not seek input from users but states project approval and construction starting in spring 2024.

The flyer claims broad commercial and commuter approval. It is incomprehensible that installing a roundabout on a 55-mph highway serving thousands of vehicles daily has been agreed upon without user input. Social media is in a disapproving uproar. Claims that roundabouts do not create congestion are blatantly false as is pedestrian protection, which is not a factor at this intersection. This is government forcing an unneeded and unwanted project.
